Governors Register of Business Interests

Governors are required to attend formal meetings as set at each Local Governing Body meeting. Failure to attend three consecutive meetings without sending an apology will require the governor to step down.

Governor Terms of Office

Governors on the Epping Upland CofE Primary School serve a term of four years, at which point the governor can stand again following any other nominations from parents or non-parents which are received. Should more than one person stand for any role then there will follow a full school vote to select the new governor.

Foundation Governor

Foundation Governors are appointed by the Chelmsford Diocesan Board of Education. Our school has two Foundation Governors, one of which is the local Vicar, whose term of office is four years.

I am Colin Tankard, Chair of the Governing Board. I have been a governor for 10 years and sit on all committees. I have specific responsibility for all aspects of the fabric facilities and services within the school.

My experience having been a governor for a long period means I can draw on that when decisions need to be made. I also run my own business and so I bring my business skills into my role as Chair. I am skilled in data compliance and I act as Data Protection Officer for the school and MAT.

I joined the governing body originally so I could get further involved with the school during my daughter’s time there.

Since then, I have enjoyed working with staff and seeing children’s progression over the years.

I was very much in favour of the school joining a MAT and was one of the lead Chairs who worked on defining the Epping Schools Partnership Trust.

As an active member of All Saints Church, I have been able to continue to foster the links between church, school and local community.

 

 I am Olivia Maxfield-Coote, one of the clergy for the Epping Team Ministry.

I have been serving as a Governor for Epping Upland for 3 years, as the Safeguarding Governor . I am also part of the Headteacher’s annual and mid-term review panel.

As one of the local clergy, I lead Collective Worship weekly and I also come in for RE sessions.

Because of my role I am able to offer particular support in regards to the church aspect of the School, including SIAMS.

I am on the governing body because of the Church school element and I am so pleased that Epping Upland is my local School. I am especially proud of the way that the School prioritises good mental health and well-being.

 

I am Zoe Grundy-Wheeler, I have one child at Epping Upland School. I joined the governing body in 2022 and am the SEN (Special Educational Needs) Governor.

I am a GP and work in our family run practice in Walthamstow. I have a special interest in child development. I have good insight into neurodiversity as a parent and professionally. I enjoy working within the governing team, it gives me a good insight into how the school operates. Epping upland is a wonderful school and I feel very grateful that my children attend, I am committed to  working with the school to ensure the best outcomes for every child.

  

I am Susy Harrison, Vice-Chair of Governors at Epping Upland.  I joined the Governing Body in 2013 and I sit on the Head Teacher Performance Review panel, oversee Risk Assessment and organise our LGB monitoring visits.

I currently manage a property business and have a background in marketing and events – I held directorships at various London and Asia based media and telecoms companies. My  communication and management skills enable me to help support and challenge where required.

I have lived in Epping Upland since 2007 and I feel blessed that both of my teenage children attended Epping Upland during which time I ran the PTA. I became a Parent Governor while my children were at the school as I wanted to ‘give something back’.

I enjoy working with our team of Governors, and I am committed to working with the school to ensure the best outcomes for every child – academically, emotionally and through sports and activities. I have often been involved in sporting activities with various year groups.

 

I am Julie Rowe and I have been the teacher governor representative for over 10 years and a teacher for 28 years, 19 of those at Epping Upland. I am the subject lead for PE within the school; PE being my passion.

As the teacher governor, I have my many years of teaching experience to bring to the governing body. I contribute to meetings by giving a teacher perspective on decisions made and then feeding back to teaching staff as and when is necessary.

I enjoy being a governor as it gives me an insight into the different side of how a school operates and I feel I can contribute to this process. 

 

I am Kate Jeppesen, one of the Parent Governors at Epping Upland Primary School; as part of my role, I sit on both the Sports and Pupil Premium panels. I feel incredibly lucky to be a Governor at this very special school because I currently have two children at Epping Upland and also live within the village. It is fantastic to be in a position to support the school community, helping to ensure the best outcomes for all of our children.

My professional role as Head of English at a local secondary school, alongside fifteen years of experience within the Education sector, puts me in a strong position to understand the day-to-day functioning of our school, allowing me to support and challenge, where required. In my spare time, I volunteer with our wonderful PTA and within the local community. I also enjoy reading, walking, cooking, visiting art galleries and spending time with my family and friends.
